About Salt Bae

Turkish butcher and restaurateur Nusret Gökçe went viral in 2017 for a video of him dramatically slicing meat and sprinkling salt down his forearm — a move so specific and absurd that the internet turned it into a meme overnight. He parlayed that moment into a global chain of Nusr-Et steakhouses known for eye-watering prices and theatrics at the table. Controversy followed when he grabbed the FIFA World Cup trophy in Qatar 2022 without much invitation, which somehow only made him more talked about. His Stories are basically a meat-heavy performance art show.
