Cardi B swept three awards, performed at the Superdome, and built her grandmother's Dominican living room inside the Essence Festival. That's the summer in three sentences. She won Best Female Rapper, Best Hip-Hop Song, and Best Hip-Hop Album on May 26 and immediately told fans not to send the trophies to her mom's house. Then came the KIKO fragrance launch at Macy's Herald Square, 19,000 Groga masks sold in nine minutes, a raccoon the size of a Puma outside her house, and a rooftop hot tub overlooking the Eiffel Tower. In New Orleans she ate gumbo ramen, walked the Superdome stage for the first time ever, and brought her kids along for the ride. Back home there are Spider-Man motorcycles, late-night pool sessions, a giraffe-obsessed child, and one very memorable sisterhood pep talk involving a small white dog.
