Bretman Rock got a galah parrot named Poe from a Hawaii bird sanctuary and immediately suspected something was off about how he was raised. The sanctuary told him Poe was hand-raised, but from day one Poe was cowering in corners, staring into nothing, and freaking out over the smallest sounds, which had Bretman questioning the whole story. It got messier from there: the rehoming fee changed at the last minute because the seller claimed she 'mixed up the price' with another bird, then turned around and sold Poe's brother to someone else the same week. On top of that, Bretman found out the 'update photos' he was getting for weeks were actually of Poe's parents, not Poe himself. Watching those old videos back, he zoomed in and saw four birds crammed into a tiny, filthy cage. Back home, Poe is still jumpy and clearly not used to having space, hitting himself across the cage when boxes arrived and loud noises startled him.
