Bretman Rock is out in the garden before his birthday, pulling giant papayas off the tree before the birds get to them. He explains that these are a special hybrid variety with a green-red stem, bred by crossing different papaya plants, and they turn bright orange when ripe. Then it's avocado season at the House of Rock too, with fruit already dropping from the wind. He shows off a basket of ripe ones, notes that the July avocados tend to run small but get bigger come August, and says his butter avocados are staying smooth and green but coming in hot.
