What Is an Instagram Live Archive?
An Instagram live archive is a collection of Instagram Live broadcasts and stories recorded while they were happening and kept watchable afterwards. Because Instagram deletes lives when they end and stories after 24 hours, an archive is the only way to watch content that has already expired.
Why archives have to record in real time
There is no Instagram API or export that returns an expired live or someone else's expired story. If a broadcast was not captured while it was running, it cannot be retrieved afterwards by anyone.
That constraint shapes every archive: coverage begins when an account was added, and nothing before that point can ever be filled in.
